报告人简介:

David Pacheco教授是新西兰皇家农科院动物营养与生理学科首席科学家。主要从事气候变化的适应与缓解相关领域的研究工作。David Pacheco教授在墨西哥获得科学学士学位后在梅西大学获得了动物科学博士学位。随后他在加拿大农业和农业食品部的乳制品与猪研究开发中心做了两年博士后研究员。他的博士及博士后研究主要围绕氨基酸在泌乳奶牛中的利用效率开展。回到新西兰后,David Pacheco教授在新西兰皇家农科院担任科学家岗位,他的研究重点是了解影响瘤胃甲烷产生的饮食和消化因素。在过去的许多研究项目中,他领导的研究旨在通过畜牧业生产中的营养手段减少温室气体排放,以及量化和预测反刍动物的甲烷排放量。他的研究为新西兰国家温室气体清单的完成做出了重要贡献,尤其是对反刍动物排泄物中氮分配的预测工作。由于这一贡献,他获得了2022年新西兰皇家农科院科学影响奖和新西兰科学院最高荣誉奖。他的研究发现已经在众多Sci期刊中发表,并受邀在众多国际会议中作报告。David Pacheco教授还是国际草食动物营养研讨会和澳大利亚乳业科学研讨会国际科学委员会成员。

Bio of the presenter:

Dr David Pacheco is currently a Principal Scientist in Animal Nutrition & Physiology at AgResearch and also the Science Objective Champion for Climate Change Adaptation & Mitigation. He is based at the Grasslands Research Centre in Palmerston North, New Zealand. He completed a PhD in Animal Science from Massey University following an undergraduate BVSc degree from Mexico. After his PhD, he spent two years as a post-doctoral fellow at the Dairy and Swine Research and Development Centre from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. His doctoral and post-doctoral research involved studies to assess the efficiency of utilisation of amino acids in lactating dairy cows. After returning to New Zealand to take on a scientist position with AgResearch, his research focused on different aspects of protein metabolism in pasture-fed ruminants, leading to the development of approaches to investigate aspects of nitrogen partitioning in grazing ruminants. For the last decade, his research has focused on understanding the dietary and digestive factors influencing methane production in the rumen. Among many projects, he has led research aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions using nutritional means in pastoral livestock production as well as quantifying and predicting methane emssions from ruminants. His research has contributed to the New Zealand national greenhouse gas inventory, particularly on the estimation of nitrogen partitioning in excreta. Because of that contribution, he was part of the multidisciplinary team awarded the AgResearch Science Impact Prize and the Supreme Award from ScienceNZ in 2022. His research has been published in scientific journals, conferences and client reports for both government and commercial stakeholders. He is an Associate Editor of international peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the International Scientific Committees for the International Symposium of Nutrition of Herbivores and the Australasian Dairy Science Symposium.
