Loor教授长期从事反刍动物营养及乳脂代谢等方面的研究,在集合组学分析、生产性能、组织成分、血液生化指标为一体的奶牛系统生理学方面做了大量开创性的工作。先后获得美国农业部-非洲农业研究所、美国金宝公司和国际合作等项目的支持,在《Journal of Dairy Science》、《Animal Nutrition》和《Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology》等国际知名杂志上发表科研论文500余篇,累计引用次数超过1.1万次,单篇最高引次数574次,是美国奶业科学协会、美国营养学会及美国动物科学协会会员,获得H. Allen Tucker哺乳和内分泌学奖、UIUC全球影响力教师奖、动物生长发育奖、乳业科学杂志百篇论文奖等学会及高校奖10项,在国际动物营养研究领域中享有较高声望。

 

Course description

Students learn the fundamentals of nutrition as applied to agricultural animals, with an emphasis on applying this information to advanced topics in the regulation of metabolism and physiology, including nutrigenomics.

Learning objectives

In the context of agricultural animal biology, this course will help students:

1.     Understand how differences in gastrointestinal and digestive anatomy and physiology affect nutritional requirements.

2.     Understand basic regulatory mechanisms of macronutrient metabolism.

3.     Understand the physiological and pathological significance of regulation of macronutient metabolism in different organs across different physiological states.

4.     Understand the role of macronutrients on the molecular regulation of metabolism.
